Investors Associated is continuing to go green! With the guidance of our newly established Green Team, we took tangible steps in 2021 to monitor and reduce our carbon footprint and implement alternative energy sources.

One of IA’s longest-standing initiatives in Madison is our annual Earth Day electronics recycling event. This year, we stopped over 4,700 pounds of electronics waste from ending up in landfills. The event, which is open to the public, has become a popular way for the community to come together and help make our planet a cleaner, healthier place.

It’s easy to spot the wildflower garden we’ve been cultivating at The Park at High Crossing to attract and increase the bumblebee population, but did you know that if you take a look up at the top of 2323 Crossroads Drive, you’ll see over 200 solar panels? As our first building to run on solar energy, it has already generated 20.72 MWh of solar power and saved over 32,079 lbs. of CO2 emissions—that’s equivalent to planting over 242 trees!

People who drive electric cars can now take advantage of the Evr-Green 4000 charging stations installed at 2323 Crossroads Drive and 2418 Crossroads Drive. This model from Chargepoint is the first ENERGY STAR® certified EV charger and has an LCD display with clear, easy-to-follow animated instructions. Also new at 2418 Crossroads Drive? A large, high-efficiency cooling tower that replaced the two older towers and will help reduce energy usage during the warmer months.

Visitors to 2810 Crossroads Drive will notice that all the old conventional lightbulbs have been replaced with LED lights. Before the conversion, it took around 10,000 watts of electricity to light the building. Now that all the lights have been converted to LED, the building only requires 4,000 watts, which is a whole building reduction of around 61%. In 2022, we are planning to have the remainder of our multi-tenant portfolio completely converted to LED.

We’re proud of the positive changes we’ve been able to make so far this year, and we know that this is only the beginning of our journey toward a more sustainable planet.
